J.B. Shuck was designated for assignment by the Angels earlier this week and now the 27-year-old outfielder has been traded to the Indians for cash considerations.
Shuck hit .293 in 129 games for the Angels last season, but it came with just two homers and a modest .697 OPS. He’s been terrible in a limited role this year, hitting .167 in 22 games, but did hit .320 in 102 games at Triple-A.
Based on his speed and lack of power you might assume that Shuck is a quality defensive outfielder, but he’s best suited for a corner spot. He could find a role in Cleveland next season as a backup.
