Browns, Kyle Shanahan Tuning Out The Johnny Manziel Critics

BEREA (92.3 The Fan) – The vogue is to rip Johnny Manziel.

As the national pundits and critics pile on the rookie from Texas A&M, the Browns are standing by their first-round draft pick.

On Thursday, offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan was the latest to take up for the No. 22 overall pick in May’s draft.

“Worth a first round draft pick – we liked him,” Shanahan said. “I’m glad he’s here. I’ve loved coaching Johnny so far. He’s a professional. I don’t really know all the stuff that people are ripping him about. I don’t have time to read it all, but Johnny has been great.

“I’m excited to see him play. I think you guys will be too.”

ESPN analyst and former Pittsburgh Steeler Merril Hoge was the latest to rip Manziel on Wednesday calling him a “punk” among a bevy of other uncomplimentary remarks during a radio interview…
