You can’t make this stuff up: the Browns have signed another quarterback potentially making this their fifth on the year. Hoyer is on IR, Weeden & Campbell are both concussed and not cleared to play or practice yet so they must turn to Alex Tanney or Caleb Hanie. If Weeden and Campbell cannot practice or play, I would guess the Browns would opt for Hanie since he has started four games before. He has a 41.6 passer rating and has completed 50.9% of his passes.
Hanie was cut by Baltimore this summer and has played with both the Bears & Broncos as a backup QB. Hanie & Tanney could be competing for a starting role and a roster spot for this weekend…and the Browns QB debacle grows ever more ridiculous.
Hanie went 0-4 in 2008 for the Bears when Jay Cutler was hurt. He has thrown three touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 11 career games. We should know more tomorrow about who will start against the Patriots this weekend as Weeden & Campbell will be re-evaluated today.
